About this culture

Walter worms are the third Panagrellus nematode in the fry-food trio, cultured exactly like microworms and banana worms on oats paste. Size sits between the two: a useful step up from banana worms before fry take full microworms, and some keepers find cultures last a little longer and the worms hang in the water column slightly better. Best for

  • Fry stepping up from banana worms
  • Breeders who already run micro & banana tubs
  • Nano fish & killifish fry
  • Anyone wanting the full nematode trio

How to culture it

  1. Set up exactly like microworms: thick oats or porridge paste in a shallow, ventilated tub.
  2. Spread the starter, keep at room temperature out of direct sun — harvest from the walls in about a week.
  3. Label tubs clearly — walter, banana and microworm cultures look the same at a glance.
  4. Start a fresh tub every 2–3 weeks and keep a backup so a crash never coincides with a spawn.

How to feed it

Wipe worms off the wall, swirl in tank water and pipette over the fry.

Use as the middle rung: banana worms → walter worms → microworms as mouths grow.
